Great Ideas on the Principles of Purpose

One of the powerful keys in living a happy, successful and significant life is discovering the purpose for which you were created. This is your “Assignment.” I would like to share to you some helpful principles on purpose I have learned.

God is a God of Purpose.
God doesn’t do anything with out a reason. He never makes mistakes because if he does, He is not God.

“Purpose is the original intent of a thing”

Purpose is found in everything.

Everything was and is born for a reason, even maggots. Scientist have discovered the ability of maggots to break down matter which is very unique in them. There was a story of a woman who lived on the mountains and her house was built on wood. One day her house began to collapse piece by piece and she saw a lot of termites and cockroaches. So she called for pest control to fix a problem for her. She ask them to exterminate the cockroaches which they effectively did. After a few days, the lady called again and told them that they have not solved her problems because the house is still going down piece by piece and a lot of termites were seen. The exterminators told the lady that they did wiped out the cockroaches. That’s why you see a lot of termites in your house is because the cockroaches are the ones who checks on the termites. Since there aren’t any roaches anymore, nobody eats on these termites. Based on the story, even cockroaches have purpose.

“Your assignment or purpose in life is not your decision, but your discovery”

Not every purpose is known.
There will be times that we would not even know the purpose of a thing. Just because you don’t know the purpose of a thing doesn’t mean it doesn’t have one. Ignorance of purpose does not cancel purpose. That’s why the next principle is important…

Where purpose is not known, “ABUSE” is inevitable.
If you don’t know a the purpose, assignment, destiny of a thing, you’ll abuse it. If you read the book of Genesis on the account of creation, when God was finished in creating, He would declare, “and God saw that it was good.” Meaning, everything he created was or is good. For example, marijuana, cocaine or shabu if used in a hospital becomes medicine but, if its used in the streets, it becomes dope or dangerous drugs. Why? Because where purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable. That’s why the word abuse is broken down to AB from abnormal and added to the word USE which makes the word AB+USE. That’s why people indulge to being alcoholics, drug abuse, prostitution… because when you do not know your purpose, you will abuse your self. When a person know his purpose, they begin to protect themselves from abuse. That’s why everything God created should discover their purpose.

If you want to know the purpose of something, never ask the thing.
Think for a moment. Did the automobile instruct Henry Ford and declare to him what it had decided to be? Of course not. Mr. Ford named it. Did the airplane inform the Wright brothers that it was going to fly and be called an airplane? Of course not. Orville and Wilbur Wright declared it so. That’s why the next principle is important if you want to know the purpose of a thing…

The purpose of a thing is only in the mind of the maker.
The only person who knows why a product exists is the manufacturer or creator.

  • The Creator decides.
  • The creation discovers.

The Creator decides what He has intended for you to become. The creation merely decides the degree of obedience and cooperation to make it so.

  • Products do not decide.
  • Manufacturers decide.

You are the product of God. He is the only One who can reveal the Assignment He decided for you at birth.

Amen brother! I have read t least a dozen other articles on the same topic and yet you are the only one who seems to have found the true, short, and sweet answer! You have summed up the great thoughts found in such works as “The Mind of the Maker” and “The Purpose Driven Life” in just a short page. While I may still be looking for my Assignment, it is still very comforting and important to know that God has a purpose for me.
