Pacquiao: Pound for Pound Champion

Just finished watching the dream fight between Manny Pacquiao and Oscar Dela Joya. My expectation was high on this fight. As round one approaches, Pacquiao battled Dela Joya with speed and as I watched, my adrenaline rushed and my heart beat shoots up. Then as I continued watching the succeeding rounds, I noticed that Dela Joya was not the same boxer as their previous fight with Manny. He seems so slower and not much action was seen in him, or perhaps, Manny became faster. I began speculating on ideas as to what happen. Maybe the 160lbs to 145lbs had an effect on Dela Joya’s reflexes or it could be Pacquiao’s rigid and exaustive discipline training that made the diffrence. Not much punches were seen from Dela Joya and he moves as if he wasn’t up for the fight.
Round seven came Dela Joya’s pinned on the ropes and Pacquiao is firing away. Fight is close to ending. Pacquiao is hitting De La Hoya hard with everything he throws. Oscar is in big, big trouble. Left to the body by Pacquiao hurts Oscar. Oscar has never been beaten like this in any of his 44 previous fights. Pacquiao is overwhelming him. Round eight finished as if you could predict the outcome of the fight then round nine comes in. But something happened… Fight is stopped just as the round is set to begin. Manny Pacquiao is declared the winner.
Congratulations Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao! The Philippine Pambansang Kamao.

I remember this fight. My husband is into boxing. Sometimes I come along to whomever’s house has the ppv fight so as to have some time with him. But husband was rooting for De La Hoya. I remember how slow he was!
